Department Member, Centre for Advanced Photography Studies
About
I work as a photography consultant, writer and multimedia producer. I undertake scholarship on photography, multimedia and politics as a member of the Durham Centre for Advanced Photography Studies and Honorary Professor of Geography at Durham University.
On the academic front I am planning for the Australian Research Council funded project, “How images shape responses to humanitarian crises.” This grant (for A$222,000) is hosted by the University of Queensland, Australia, and the work will be done in collaboration with Professor Roland Bleiker and Dr Emma Hutchison from July 2011 for three years. I am also preparing to be the A. Lindsay O’Connor Professor in the Peace and Conflict Studies Program, Colgate University, New York, in the Spring Term 2012, teaching on war and media.
