About
I am a final year doctoral postgraduate, due to finish early in 2010. My thesis examines the later philosophy of Paul Feyerabend and his critical discussions of the cognitive and cultural authority of the 'scientific worldview'. I'm particularly interested in the parallels he draws between cultural and epistemic diversity.
Much of my current research focuses on three topics: scientific naturalism, human nature, and epistemological pluralism. I'm interested in how the sciences have transformed our conceptions of human nature and reality - this takes me into history and philosophy of science, phenomenology, and philosophical anthropology.
Into the future I plan to study the 'impoverishment' of human nature by scientific naturalism - a big theme in C19-20 European philosophy. Ancilliary interests include virtue epistemology, ancient Greek philosophy, and cultural heritage ethics.
