I am a taught postgraduate in Biblical Studies, focused on Jewish Studies - particularly Second Temple Judaism and scribal practices. Much of my studies have been focused on the Dead Sea Scrolls, methods of Biblical Criticism, and a track record in both Testaments. My current MA project is on the attitudes to Hebrew in Jubilees, and my tentative PhD thesis is on scribal practice in Ben Sira. Scribal practice is one of my main interests.
I am founding member of the Apocrypha Reading Group at Durham (https://interestingtexts.wordpress.com/), PG rep for the Durham Theology web committee, member of Durham's Cafe des Femmes, and a respondent for the Religious Studies Project (http://www.religiousstudiesproject.com/). This year I was on the conference planning committee for Cafe des Femmes's annual PG Research Day, 'Blurring Boundaries' and chaired a session on Intertextuality. I will be speaking at my first ever conference in June, at St Andrews (http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/divinity/rt/conf/mtt/).
My other interests include the accessibility of Biblical Studies to wider Western society through media and education. I also want to explore epigraphy and palaeography, as well as keep looking into scribes and ancient literacy/orality. My career goals are academic.
My hobbies are running, hiking, Krav Maga, piano (grade 8), violin, bookbinding/book repair, ephemera, cartography, and computers. I vaguely know my way around C++, html, and Java. I'd like to see more computers in Biblical Studies--but not in the sense of overusing Bibleworks! I am attempting to learn TeX for designing articles and projects with specific Hebrew, Qumran fragment, or Hieroglyphics requirements. I am a member of the Society of Bookbinders and IMCoS.
