About

BACKGROUND
I completed my BA (with honours) in Archaeology at the University of Chester and received the Blue Coat Archaeology and History Prize 2008. I completed my MA in Historical Archaeology at Durham in 2009 and in the Autumn of 2009, I received a full AHRC award to undertake a PhD at Durham University, England.

CURRENT RESEARCH
Building on research interests accrued during my MA, my doctoral research investigates the use and role of representational art of the human image on  fifth- to eighth- century grave goods in coastal eastern England (Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk).

I have a breadth of interests but I am  particularly interested in theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches to burial archaeology, Anglo-Saxon funerary customs and traditions, elite performative displays, archaeology of the senses and the role of art within contexts of the living and the dead.

TEACHING
At Durham University I also contribute to the following:
- MA in Historical Archaeology module ‘Death & Burial in Anglo-Saxon England’
- 3rd year undergraduate module ‘Death & Burial in Anglo-Saxon England’
- 1st year undergraduate module ‘PGRs Learning Enhancement Workshops’
