Thesis Title: God, Time and Eternity: Philosophical Foundations for a Defence of Divine Timelessness (PhD) ; 'God Exists': Meaning, Reference and Anselm's Proslogion (MA)

About

I completed my PhD in 2007/8 and currently teach part-time for both Durham and the Open University.  I'm interested in the application of science and specific fields of philosophy (especially metaphysics) to issues in theology and the philosophy of religion.  I particularly enjoy teaching on Hume, Kant and Wittgenstein (but not at the same time).

I am currently preparing a research project on the coherence of bodily resurrection with particular reference to conceptions of the soul which are not 'substance dualist' (i.e. where the soul is not posited as a separate substance from the body).  I have also written papers on whether God is a moral agent, and in criticism of religious fictionalism (the idea that religious language can be helpfully treated as a pretence and so should not be ejected from our discourse if it appears to state falsehoods).
